About Dental Implant Costs
When considering dental implant costs, it's important to remember that you are investing in a medical service that combines both art and science. Dental implants require the expertise of a skilled team of dental professionals, including dentists with specialized training in implantology. This service can significantly improve your quality of life by providing you with permanent teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
Typical Costs of Dental Implants
The cost of a single dental implant can range from $3,000 to $6,000, with the average cost being around $4,500. For a full-arch fixed implant bridge, often referred to as All-on-4, the costs can range from $15,000 to $30,000 (or more) per arch. While you might find cheaper options, it’s essential to consider the experience and skill of the dental professional performing the procedure.
What's Included in Dental Implant Costs
- Initial Consultation: The first step is a comprehensive consultation to assess your oral health and plan the treatment. This includes diagnostic imaging, such as 3D scans, to provide a detailed view of your mouth and jaw.
- Surgery: During the surgical procedure, the dental implants are placed into the jawbone. You will leave the office with temporary, functional teeth while the implants heal and integrate with your bone.
- Follow-Up Appointments: After the implants have fused to the bone (typically 3-6 months), new impressions are taken to create your final, permanent teeth. These follow-up visits ensure that your new teeth fit perfectly and function well.
- Specialist Care: Dental implants are performed by specialists with advanced training in implantology. This expertise is crucial for the success and longevity of your implants.
- Anesthetic Options: Procedures can be done under local anesthetic, sedation, or general anesthetic. While general anesthetic is more expensive, it may be necessary for patients who are anxious about the procedure.
- Bone Grafts: In cases where there is insufficient bone, a bone graft may be necessary before implant placement. This additional procedure will increase the overall cost and treatment time.
- Material: The type of material used for the crowns affects the cost. Porcelain and ceramic crowns are more natural-looking and durable compared to acrylic resin crowns, which are less expensive but less durable.
- Teeth Location: Replacing front teeth, which are more visible and require more skill to look natural, can be more expensive than replacing back teeth.
Long-Term Cost-Effectiveness of Dental Implants
While dental implants may have a higher upfront cost compared to dentures or bridges, they are more cost-effective in the long run. Dental implants provide a durable, secure, and long-lasting solution. Studies show that implant-supported crowns have a 20+ year effectiveness rate in 95% of cases, compared to a 10-year average lifespan for bridges. This means that while implants might be more expensive initially, their durability and longevity make them a better investment over time.

If your credit score is average or even slightly below, we can help you apply online with a third-party financing company, and you’ll receive an instant decision in most cases. This pre-qualifying approach is a “soft” credit check. Some patients tap a friend, family member, or spouse to co-sign with them for financing if they don’t qualify. Other alternative options may also be available to you.
** What is a fixed provisional, and how is that different from the final prosthesis?Provisional teeth are made of hard industrial plastic. They look, feel, and function like natural teeth. On the day of surgery, your provisional teeth are placed on top of the implants and remain in place for 2-4 months, allowing the appropriate amount of time for your jaw bone to adhere to the implants. After your bone securely heals to the implants, you will then receive your final lifetime teeth, usually made of zirconia, Prettau®, or other high-quality material.
